About Us

The Nepalese Society of Wellington - Logo

The Nepalese Society of Wellington Incorporated (TNSW) is the premier community-driven hub for individuals of Nepalese origin and well-wishers living within the Wellington Region. Governed by a dedicated Executive Committee, TNSW operates strictly in accordance with local legislation to serve as a reliable bridge connecting our unique cultural identity with the broader multi-ethnic landscape of New Zealand.

History

TNSW was fundamentally initiated by a group of passionate founding members who signed the original rules at the society's very first meeting back in 2007. Over the nearly two decades since, the society has evolved alongside our growing community. To remain transparent, modern, and legally compliant, our constitution was comprehensively updated and approved during the Annual General Meeting held on April 13, 2024, aligning with the new Incorporated Societies Act 2022.

Mission

Our mission is to proactively support the settlement, well-being, and social integration of Nepalese migrants and families. By offering essential community services, acting as a liaison with governmental departments, and fostering mutual assistance, we seek to uplift every member of our society while enriching the cultural fabric of Wellington.
